TSAMTO, March 23. According to the PIB (Press Information Bureau) agency, the procurement division of the Ministry of Defense of India signed a contract with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) on March 19 for the supply of 4960 Milan-2T ATGMs for the country's Ground Forces.
The order cost was 11.88 billion rubles. RS. (about $ 163 million). Deliveries are expected to be completed within three years.
As stated, the signed agreement will contribute to the further development of the government's "Make in India" initiative. This purchase is a "re-order" under the contract signed with BDL on March 8, 2016.
"Milan-2T" is a second-generation ATGM developed by the French MBDA and produced by BDL under license, which allows hitting targets at ranges up to 1,850 m. "Milan-2T" is equipped with a tandem warhead that provides the defeat of armored vehicles equipped with dynamic protection. The launch weight of the rocket is 12 kg, the weight of the warhead is about 3 kg, the armor penetration is about 850 mm, the calculation of the complex is two people.
