The United States puts Russia on the list of countries with which the export and import of weapons and defense services is completely prohibited. This is stated in the statement of the US State Department, published on its website on Wednesday, March 17.
"The US policy is to refuse to issue licenses or other permits for the export of defense products and defense services intended for Russia," the document says. The decision will come into force on March 18.
The exceptions were operations within the framework of cooperation between states in the field of space and, until September 1, in the field of commercial space launches, writes <url>.
The sanctions were adopted by the decision of the head of the US State Department, Anthony Blinken, on March 2.
Earlier on Wednesday, it became known that the US Department of Commerce will expand export sanctions against Russia due to the situation with blogger Alexei Navalny. Measures were also taken in connection with the poisoning of former GRU officer Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury on March 4, 2018.
Also on March 17, US President Joe Biden said that Moscow should answer for interfering in the US elections. Moreover, the American leader noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin "will pay the price."
According to him, he had previously had a "long conversation" with Putin, noting that he knew him "quite well". At the same time, according to Biden, he warned the Russian leader about a possible response.
The head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, Leonid Slutsky, said that the US threats against Russia, allegedly related to Russian interference in the US elections, will not be ignored and will receive a response.
