MOSCOW, February 26-RIA Novosti. Military-technical cooperation between Russia and Kyrgyzstan is aimed at strengthening the common defense potential of the CSTO, including air defense, the press secretary of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) of the Russian Federation, Valeria Reshetnikova, told RIA Novosti.
During the visit of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov to Russia on February 24-25, an agreement was reached on the supply of S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems and drones to Bishkek, the press secretary of the head of the Kyrgyz state, Galina Baiterek, said earlier.
"Russia's military-technical cooperation with Kyrgyzstan continues in the context of a high level of trust and is aimed, among other things, at strengthening the common defense potential of the CSTO, including air defense," Reshetnikova said.
Eight years ago, Kyrgyzstan and Russia signed an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the military-technical sphere, under which the Russian Federation will supply the republic with modern weapons and military equipment worth $ 1 billion.
The Russian Kant air base, which is structurally part of the Central Military District, is located in Kyrgyzstan.
