Chisinau. February 25. INTERFAX - State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MIDEI) of Moldova Georgi Leuke called for the resumption of the process of withdrawal of Russian troops and the destruction of ammunition located in Transnistria.
"The presence of more than 20 thousand tons of Soviet-era ammunition on the territory of the Transnistrian region, which is not controlled by the constitutional authorities of Moldova, is of serious concern. The risks are high not only at the local level, but also at the regional level. This is a clear example when we have a common need - to start practical work, to resume the processes of destruction and withdrawal, to reduce and avoid delays caused by protracted procedural debates, " Leuke said on Thursday at the Conference on Disarmament, which is being held in Geneva in the format of a video conference. The text of his speech was distributed by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He reaffirmed Moldova's commitment to " the values of peace negotiations on the main issues underlying the Conference on Disarmament, and called for its extension."
