ABU DHABI, February 21. /TASS/. The Kalashnikov Group of Companies (part of the Rostec State Corporation) has carried out a deep modernization of the 5.45-mm AK-12 assault rifle. This was reported to TASS during the international arms exhibition IDEX-2021 in the press service of Kalashnikov.
"In particular, the machine gun received a more ergonomic butt, a new fire control handle with a trigger guard, changed sighting devices," Kalashnikov informed.
As emphasized in the press service, the machine was finalized based on the results of military operation. "Nevertheless, the Kalashnikov designers, together with the customer, do not stop there and are constantly looking for ways to further improve the AK-12, "Kalashnikov said.
Currently, serial deliveries of the AK-12 are underway. "At the moment, tens of thousands of AK-12 units have already been delivered to customers, "Kalashnikov said.
Promotion of the global market
In "Kalashnikov" reported that they began to promote the latest AK-15 submachine gun in the world arms market under the 7.62 x 39 mm cartridge.
"The AK-15 in the 7.62 x 39 mm caliber is the successor to the AK-103. Those countries of the [Middle East] region that traditionally use automatic rifles in this caliber and previously purchased the AK-103 are considered as potential buyers of the AK-15, " the press service informed.
As noted in the "Kalashnikov", deliveries of AK-15 to foreign customers have not yet been.
The press service noted that it is not yet planned to supply the AK-15 to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. "The 7.62 mm caliber in the Russian army is used only to a limited extent, "Kalashnikov said.
