The system for combating unmanned aerial vehicles, including electronic and anti-aircraft countermeasures, will be presented by Rosoboronexport at the IDEX-2021 defense exhibition, which opens on February 21 in the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
"Taking into account the attention to the Russian means of combating drones around the world and in the Middle East, in particular, we have developed and offer a unique integrated solution for the global market - a combat system that can effectively resist the actions of drones, combining electronic warfare and air defense systems of various classes, "said Alexander Mikheev, head of Rosoboronexport.
Indeed, the Russian base of Khmeimim in Syria has been repeatedly attacked by a variety of drones. And none of them managed to break through to the protected objects.
According to Mikheev, the systems presented at IDEX-2021 are able to counteract the massive air raid of drones by suppressing their command and telemetry channels and navigation channels. For the physical destruction of drones, a fire damage subsystem is used, which can be based on short-range air defense systems, such as the Pantsir-S1M or the Tor-type air defense systems.
The solution of the tasks of air defense of the last frontier is most optimally provided by the portable anti-aircraft missile systems "Verba" or "Igla-S", as well as combat vehicles of the department of MANPADS "Gibka-S", capable of firing missiles from both "Verba" and "Igla-S".
Back in November 2019, shortly after the destruction of a number of Saudi oil facilities by drone strikes, Russia developed and offered partners in the Middle East and Africa a multi-level system to combat disembodied aircraft. Within the framework of IDEX-2021, this system can be found in more detail.
