MOSCOW, February 17. /TASS/. The latest compact Lebedev pistol (PLC) is lighter and more compact than the most common pistols in the world, but it is not inferior to them in combat qualities. This was reported to TASS by the head of the direction of the directorate of the Kalashnikov Group of companies (part of the Rostec State Corporation") on military-technical cooperation Vladimir Onokoy.
"If we compare the PLC with the SIG P226, Glock 17, Beretta M9A3-it is lighter and more compact, but in no way inferior to the above-mentioned pistols in terms of basic characteristics," he said on the eve of the international arms exhibition IDEX - 2021, which will be held from 21 to 25 February in Abu Dhabi.
According to the representative of "Kalashnikov", the current trend is that compact pistols are adopted instead of full-size models.
"Compact pistols, despite their smaller size and weight, are not much inferior to their full-size counterparts in terms of their main characteristics. And the appearance of collimator sights on pistols and magazines of increased capacity has led to the fact that compact pistols are not inferior to their full-size counterparts. At the same time, the compact pistol is more versatile - it is easier to carry it covertly, which means that it can also be used by operational law enforcement officers, " Onokoy said.
As the most famous example, he cited the adoption of the US Marine Corps compact pistol SIG M18 instead of the full-size SIG M17.
As reported Onokhoy, PLC fully complies with the above-mentioned trends. "Having the weight of an eight-shot Makarov pistol, the PLC is equipped with a magazine for 14 rounds. If necessary, larger capacity magazines can also be used. All controls are double-sided, which means that both left-handed and right-handed people will be able to use this gun equally effectively. The frame is made of aluminum, which increases the service strength of the weapon, especially when using powerful ammunition with increased penetration of 7H21, " he said.
Earlier it became known that the company will demonstrate the Lebedev pistol for the first time abroad at IDEX-2021.
