The developers of the latest AKV-521 carbine tested it in action at a temperature of minus 50 degrees - the weapon did not fail. The corresponding video appeared on the official YouTube channel of the Kalashnikov concern.
The carbine, along with the cartridges, spent an hour in the freezer, after which more than a dozen shots were fired from it. The temperature at the shooting range was also below zero, as can be seen from the exhaled steam. Despite the harsh conditions, the weapon worked in normal mode.
Thus, according to the developers, they wanted to evaluate how the carbine would behave in winter at minus 30-40 degrees, if left in the car or outdoors. It was important to check whether the transition to a new design - the division into an upper and lower receiver, the so-called upper and lower-affected the reliability of the weapon.
Also, judging by the video, the prototype has already been changed, announced at the end of last year. In particular, the cocking handle was moved to the left side, and the slot in the barrel on the right was closed to give the structure more rigidity.
Recall that in the basic version, the AKV-521 carbine is created for 5. 45x39 caliber cartridges. However, in the future, it will be possible to purchase weapons with different barrels, including 7,62x39, hunting caliber .366 TCM and .223 Remington (5.56×45 NATO standard).
