The Russian market received a shortened carbine TG2 from " Kalashnikov»
The Kalashnikov Group of Companies (part of the Rostec State Corporation) has started selling a shortened version of the latest civilian TG2 carbine for the 366TKM cartridge on the Russian market. What characteristics does the new weapon have and what is its export potential - in the review of "Gazeta.Ru».
"On February 8, a new version of the TG2 smoothbore carbine (version 3) with a shortened barrel goes on sale in the Kalashnikov brand zones throughout Russia. The TG2 carbine has a 341 mm long barrel with a "Paradox" drill, a folding stock and a side bar for mounting optics, "the Kalashnikov Group of Companies said.
The TG2 version of the sp. 03 is a smooth-bore carbine chambered for the 366 TKM cartridge, developed on the basis of the 7.62 mm Kalashnikov AK-103 and maximally unified with it, it has a shortened barrel length. We can say that the product ideologically continues the line of smoothbore adaptations of the bestsellers of the Kalashnikov Group of Companies.
The carbine is characterized by reliable gas-discharge automation, a chrome-plated barrel and chamber channel, a cartridge guide in the receiver for reliable supply of all types of cartridges. The weapon is normally equipped with a strong 10-charge magazine in an elongated case. It is possible to use stores of increased capacity for participation in sports competitions. The kit includes a pencil case with accessories and a ramrod. The weight of the carbine is 3.4 kg. The length when folded is 705 mm.
The weapon is equipped with a USM blocker (trigger mechanism), which makes it impossible to shoot with the butt folded. The safety lever is made with an additional protrusion near its axis, specifically for the index finger of the shooter.
The rifle has a side bar for mounting optical and collimator sights. The sighting devices are identical to the AK-103 submachine gun. A removable muzzle brake-compensator is installed on the barrel.
Thanks to the combination of 366TKM bullet cartridges, which have high energy and good ballistics, with a forged chrome-plated TG2 rifle barrel and a well-developed drill, the "Paradox" allows you to achieve characteristics in accuracy and effective firing range that were previously possible only with rifled weapons.
The combination of the TG2 smoothbore rifle and 366TKM cartridges gives Russian shooters the equivalent of a fairly powerful and reliable self-loading carbine for both hunting and sports-training shooting, without having to wait five years to obtain a license for rifled weapons. The approximate price of the carbine TG2 isp. 03 - 43 thousand 590 rubles.
The "Paradox" or Fosbury drill is a special type of hunting weapon, in which the smooth barrel has a cut in the muzzle, as well as the name of such a cut itself. This design of the barrel allows you to significantly increase the accuracy when shooting a bullet, while at the same time leaving the opportunity to shoot shot. Bullets for "paradoxes" have a characteristic shape, not similar to the shape of smoothbore bullets, which are stabilized by either a swept stabilizer or rotation by an oncoming air flow, " explained the newspaper.En " Deputy Director of the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies Konstantin Makiyenko.
One of the main features of the new hunting carbine is the "omnivore" of 366 TKM cartridges.
366 TKM (from "Techkrim" - the name of the developer of the cartridge, and "Hammer" - the name of the first manufacturer of weapons under the cartridge) - developed in Russia hunting cartridge caliber 366 for smoothbore weapons with a partially rifled barrel or rifled nozzle "Paradox", as well as barrels with a Lancaster drill. This is the first hunting cartridge created in Russia since 1991 and launched into large-scale production (other cartridges currently produced were put into production during the existence of the USSR). The holder of the patent for the cartridge, the manufacturer and developer of the cartridge - CJSC "Techkrim" (Izhevsk).
This convergence is unique for the Russian ammunition market and the global market as a whole. From the point of view of the legislation of the Russian Federation, this cartridge is a cartridge for smoothbore weapons.
The first weapon under such a cartridge was released by JSC "Vyatsko-Polyansky Machine-building Plant "Molot", which is reflected in the name of the ammunition.
For the use of ammunition, the design of the weapon must provide for the use of a "Paradox" type nozzle or a rifled part of the barrel bore with a length of no more than 140 mm. The positioning of the cartridge in the chamber of the weapon is made according to the muzzle (by analogy with pistol cartridges).
The 366 TCM is based on the cartridge case of the 7.62x39 model of 1943. The cartridge is suitable for independent equipment, but this is complicated by the relatively low prevalence in the world and the lack of mass production of matrices for its equipment.
Designed for hunting animals weighing up to 200 kg at a distance of up to 150-200 m, training shooting and self-defense.
In 2020, Kalashnikov launched such new civilian small arms as the TR9, TR3 and Saiga-308 carbines with a 555 mm barrel. "They already account for about 1 billion rubles of the total revenue from the sale of civilian small arms, "Kalashnikov said.
As the company recalled, as part of the implementation of the order of the President of the Russian Federation on the diversification of the military-industrial complex by 2030, the share of civilian products produced by Russian defense enterprises should reach 50% in value terms. "The civil direction of the Kalashnikov for 2020 showed a positive trend in comparison with 2019. For civilian small arms, we managed to increase revenue in Russia by 30%, and abroad-by 17%, " the release says.
"There is no doubt that the TG2 sp. 03 carbine will have good export prospects. This will be primarily facilitated by the well-recognized appearance and characteristics of the weapon, bringing it closer to the rifled samples. This is a compact, trouble-free, reliable weapon designed for hunting, sports and training shooting, " Konstantin Makiyenko concluded.
