For the Russian army, a multi-purpose unarmored SUV based on the Strela car will be developed.
This was reported to TASS by the general director of the "Military-Industrial Company" (MIC) Alexander Krasovitsky. According to him, within the framework of this line, a basic armored car and an amphibious armored car have already been created, and the whole family will consist of six cars. In addition to the multi-purpose SUV, it is planned to develop a light buggy for special operations forces and armored and unarmored universal chassis for mounting various types of weapons and systems.
One of the features of Strela is the widespread use of commercial components. Due to this, cars can be repaired and preventive maintenance can be carried out at many service stations throughout the country. This approach also made it possible to reduce the cost of development in comparison with the Tiger armored car.
As already written by "RG", sketches of the unarmored multi-purpose vehicle "Strela "were first presented at the forum"Army-2020". The weight of the machine is 3.5 tons, the load capacity is one ton. The length is 4.7 meters, width - 2.2 meters, height - 2.1 meters. Ground clearance - 25 centimeters.
