Igor Arbuzov, General Director of NPO Energomash, noted that the volume of work in 2021 is 20-25% higher than in the previous year
MOSCOW, January 31. /TASS/. NPO Energomash (part of Roscosmos) will deliver the RD-171MV engine to Samara in 2021 for testing as part of the rocket stage. This was announced by the general director of the company Igor Arbuzov.
"With our partners in Samara (GNPRCC "TsSKB-Progress"), work will be carried out on the RD-171MV: we must supply the engine for testing as part of the launch vehicle stage (launch vehicle-approx. TASS)", - said Arbuzov in an interview with the newspaper "For the Motherland", stressing that in 2021 the company "will have no time to rest".
According to the General director of NPO Energomash, the total volume of work in 2021 is 20-25% higher than the previous year. Because of this, some workshops will have to organize the second and third shifts.
In particular, a large amount of work is expected in the design office and the test complex. "This is the creation of the RD-191M, and the development of the RD-171MV engine, bringing it to the necessary condition, and conducting a number of tests," explained Arbuzov.
In December 2020, the head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, reported on the first full-size fire test of the world's most powerful liquid-propellant rocket engine, the RD-171MV, all parameters were normal. The RD-171MV engine is being developed for a promising medium-class Soyuz-5 launch vehicle and a super-heavy rocket.
