In Tyumen, in 2021, the first graduation of lieutenants in a rare specialty in the army - engineering special forces will take place. Such unique specialists are trained in the Tyumen Higher Military Engineering Command School.
Stormtroopers, or "heavy" - this is also the name of cadets who are trained in the specialty "Application of engineering units of assault and barrage".
As the head of the school, Major General Dmitry Evmenenko, told in an interview with "Red Star", in fact, graduates are special forces of the engineering troops. "They tend to perform engineering tasks in the most difficult areas and directions," he stressed. The training of cadets for the position of commanders of assault and barrage units is very different from the training of ordinary sappers.
Stormtroopers must thoroughly know the work of engineering units, take into account all types of ammunition encountered.
"Their important feature is to know perfectly the nuances of conducting combat operations in an urbanized area," the general stressed.
When training sapper special forces, much attention is paid to enhanced physical training. The stormtroopers will have to carry heavy body armor, sapper equipment and shields that protect them from bullets and shrapnel. Also included in the training is the mandatory performance of up to ten skydives. "Despite such a difficult course of professional training, the interest of applicants in this area is only increasing," the general said.
