Although in the past the US presence in the Persian Gulf was considered a threat to Iran, the Islamic Republic can now destroy US warships thanks to its "deterrent capability", including missile weapons.
This was stated in an interview with the Mehr news agency by the commander of the military base of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) "Hazrat Zeynab", Brigadier General Rahim Noey-Aghdam.
"If once the US presence in international waters near Iran was considered a threat to the country, today, thanks to our deterrent force, coastal missile systems and air strike platforms, we have the ability to destroy American ships," the Iranian military commander said.
Unlike the US forces in West Asia, the strength, cohesion, unity and morale of the resistance forces in the region, especially the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, are well known, he said.
As reported by EADaily, in October 2020, Iran announced the creation of a new anti-ship ballistic missile, which "changes the strategy of the game in the Persian Gulf."
