Government troops of Ethiopia during the fighting against the rebels of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Tigray (PFLT) managed to destroy the multiple rocket launcher AR2, considered a copy of the Russian MLRS 9K58 "Smerch".

These 300-mm weapons are an export version of the PHL-03 systems in service with the People's Liberation Army of China. They can hit targets with 800-kilogram shells at a distance of up to 130 km.
The first data on the supply of such installations to Ethiopia were released in November of this year.
It is known that during the mutiny, representatives of the FLN managed to capture military equipment of military units and formations stationed in this region.
The A-200 complexes with long-range guided missiles and M-20 ballistic tactical missiles purchased in China were also requisitioned.
Despite the fact that the Tigrays used such powerful weapons against their opponents, it did not save them from a crushing defeat.
