Baku. January 17. INTERFAX-AZERBAIJAN-Turkey will hold large-scale military exercises in Kars from February 1 to 12, and the Azerbaijani military will also take part in them, the Turkish newspaper Haberturk reports.
"According to the information received, the Turkish Armed Forces are preparing for the largest winter exercises in the last period. The exercises will be held in Kars from February 1 to 12. The exercises, which will also be attended by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, will involve tank companies, artillery batteries, sniper teams, special forces command personnel, special forces and helicopters," the newspaper reports.
According to Haberturk, units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces will also take part in joint shooting exercises.
"The purpose of the exercises is to ensure cooperation and coordination during joint operations, to check the operability of combat weapons and vehicles in service, new in stock or being developed by defense industry enterprises," the report says.
Other tasks of the exercise include testing the combat capabilities of troops, including shooting in deep snow and in severe frost, improving the level of training in winter conditions, arranging in the field, placing, supplying and maintaining, as well as ensuring the operation of command systems.
