The Russian Academy of Sciences recommended to postpone the creation of the Yenisei rocket"
Russian scientists agreed on the need to postpone the creation of a super-heavy lunar rocket "Yenisei". Earlier, President Vladimir Putin criticized the leadership of Roscosmos for delaying it.
The timing of the creation of a Russian super-heavy rocket for a flight to the moon should be postponed. This conclusion was reached by the RAS Space Council at a meeting on December 16.
The Council recommended that the Academy authorities and the state Corporation Roscosmos "to appeal to the President of the Russian Federation with a proposal for the adjustment of "fundamentals of state policy of the Russian Federation in the field of space activities for the period till 2030 and further prospect" and the provisions of the decree of the President of the Russian Federation in part of postponing the creation of space rocket complex superheavy class at a later date with mandatory study application in this project, the most disruptive and promising and economically viable technologies".
In addition, the Council recommended the development and approval in the first half of 2021, a separate "moon" subprogramme of the state programme of the Russian Federation "Space activities", which requires a manned expedition on the moon by 2030 using mnogopuchkovyi flight schemes based on the use of space rocket complex "Angara-5", other means and objects of ground space infrastructure.
Earlier it was reported that the Russian lunar take-off and landing complex (LVPC) will be able to deliver crews of four astronauts to the Earth's satellite.
In November, the leadership of Roscosmos once again received comments from the country's leadership for disrupting the deadlines for the implementation of space programs. This time, they were voiced by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting on financing and development of the space industry, which was held via videoconference.
"Roscosmos was instructed to prepare a number of new programs, including those aimed at developing a super - heavy-class missile system, creating a space group within the scope of the Sphere project, as well as further developing the GLONASS system, "Vladimir Putin said. - However, as I see from the information provided, these programs have not yet been approved. I ask you to report today what are the reasons for such a delay, when their formation will be finally completed."
The head of Roscosmos, after a meeting with Putin, said on Twitter that the draft programs for the creation of a super-heavy rocket and space complex and a multi-satellite orbital group "Sphere" were submitted to the government of the Russian Federation on time - in August 2020.
"I hope that after today's meeting with Vladimir Putin, the amount of their funding will be agreed, and the programs themselves will be adopted. I am grateful to the President for supporting the development of scientific space. This is an important outcome of today's meeting with Vladimir Putin, " Rogozin wrote.
Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the creation of a super-heavy rocket in early 2018. The first launch is scheduled for 2028, the launch complex is planned to be built at the Vostochny cosmodrome.
"Both Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov and Roscosmos themselves gave the cost of the Yenisei rocket - it fluctuates in the range of 1-1. 4 trillion rubles. This is just the cost of our ten-year FKP program until 2025. And just imagine, this means that it is necessary to build a rocket for 10 years and not spend money on anything else, "he explained to the newspaper.En " Ivan Moiseev, Scientific Director of the Institute of Space Policy. - And so how to put and offer a program with such cost estimates? In any case, this program is hanging, it is impossible to make such a program. And the main thing is that there are no loads for this rocket."
