TSAMTO, January 13. On January 11, the Swedish company Saab announced the signing of a framework agreement with the command of the Norwegian Armed Forces for the supply of 84-mm Karl-Gustav hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers of the M4 version.
The signed agreement allows the Norwegian Armed Forces to place orders for the supply of the Karl-Gustav M4, related equipment and training systems for 7 years. At the same time, Saab received the first firm order from the Norwegian Armed Forces for the supply of grenade launchers, which should be completed in 2021.
The Norwegian Armed Forces have been using Karl-Gustav M2 grenade launchers since the early 1970s. Currently, the systems of the M2 and M3 versions remain in service.
As reported by TSAMTO, the latest version of the 84-mm hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher "Karl Gustav" M4 is significantly reduced in weight. The weight of the M4 is 6.7 kg, which is 30% lighter than the M3, and half the weight of the 14.2-kg version of the M2. The recomposition made it possible to reduce the length of the M4 from 106.5 (M3) to 100 cm, which also contributed to weight loss.
The company has integrated additional components to ensure the safety of the M4 application, which allows you to carry the grenade launcher loaded and reduces the response time to threats. Equipping the system of accounting shots allows you to eliminate errors in determining the remaining service life of the RPG.
In addition to using the standard telescopic sight from the M3 version, Saab has equipped the M4 with an interface for installing advanced "intelligent" sights to improve shooting accuracy and the probability of hitting the target. The new version is compatible with all previously developed types of ammunition. In addition, the M4 allows you to launch programmable ammunition.
Since the start of sales in 2014, Saab has signed contracts for the supply of Karl Gustav M4 grenade launchers with fourteen countries around the world.
