Ust-Katavsky Car Building Plant (part of Roscosmos) intends to assemble an unmanned tram in 2022, then its tests will follow. This was announced on Monday, January 4, by the general Director of the company Roman Novikov.
"The technical task is ready. The components are clear to us. It remains to purchase and apply. We will make it in 2022, most likely, but there will be long tests, because the system will be configured and refined, " the director of the enterprise said.
Novikov added that the plant has fully worked out the unmanned system as part of the placement and connection to the tram.
On September 19, last year, it became known about plans to test an unmanned tram in Moscow. According to the head of the Moscow Department of Transport Maxim Liksutov, the city government intends to conduct testing together with the company"Yandex".
It is noted that drones will help reduce congestion and improve road safety. In particular, they eliminate the human factor when driving, and this will prevent more than 70% of accidents.
In 2019, the head of Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, announced the creation of the first medical unmanned tram for Russian regions. Then he noted that the assembly of the pilot instance had already begun.
The head of the state corporation stressed that the new tram will be cheaper than Russian-made analogues on the market. It will also be available in a version with a car driver. In such a train, consisting of two or three cars, anyone can pass a minimum medical examination.
