Funds for the creation and launch of the Spectrum-UV telescope ("World Space Observatory — Ultraviolet") have been allocated, RIA Novosti reports the statement of the scientific director of the Institute for Space Research (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Lev Zeleny.
According to him, the allocation for space exploration annual funding of $ 14-15 billion rubles "is actually short money, this recovery budget," which is enough for basic studies of the moon, Venus and "Spectrum-UV".
"In particular, Spektr-UV is a very good experiment, the Russian Hubble. Now we will be able to launch it, as planned, in 2025, " Zeleny said.
In February, 2019 Deputy scientific Director of the project "Spectrum-UV", Deputy Director of the Institute of astronomy of the RAS Mikhail Sachkov said that Roskosmos intends to 2019 to cut the funding for the project of the space telescope "Spectrum-UV" three times, and in 2020 — even ten times that actually stop work on the creation of the telescope.
In June 2018, Mikhail Khaylov, Deputy General Director of Roscosmos for Automatic space complexes and systems, said that Spektr-UV will be launched on an Angara-A5 rocket from the Vostochny cosmodrome in 2024.
According to the Federal Space Program for 2016-2025, the launch of Spektr-UV is scheduled for 2024. The space observatory is designed for imaging and spectroscopy in the ultraviolet region of the electromagnetic spectrum. The closest analogue of "Spectrum-UV" is the American Hubble.
