Moscow. December 27. INTERFAX - Russia hopes to strengthen military cooperation with Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua, said the Deputy Minister of defence of the Russian Federation Alexander Fomin.
"Cooperation with the defense departments of Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela tends to develop further," he said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
"Given the friendly relations of the Russian Federation, as a rule, meet Cuban partners and consider Havana to strengthen the defense potential of the island of Freedom," - said Fomin.
"The leadership of the Russian Defense Ministry considers cooperation with Nicaragua in the field of defense and security as one of the main long - term directions of interstate relations," Fomin said.
"We pay special attention to cooperation with the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. The former leader of the republic, Hugo Chavez, gave a confidential tone to our contacts. Currently, the current military and political leadership of the country, despite the opposition of the United States, continues to follow the set course of friendship and partnership," Fomin said.
