Russia has sent 300 military trainers to the Central African Republic at the request of the country's leadership to help counter a surge in rebel violence ahead of General elections, the Russian foreign Ministry said.
It is also known that officials in the capital of the CAR - the city of Bangui - said that Rwanda and Russia sent troops and supplies to the country at the request of the local government.
300 Russian instructors will train the national army. They are meant to bolster security forces and more than 12,000 UN peacekeepers as armed rebel groups, some of which have fought each other in the country's long-running conflict, have formed an Alliance and are threatening to March on the capital, Reuters said.
