The US proposes to develop a strategy to reduce Russian influence in Syria
The Congress proposes to form a strategy for Syria, which, in particular, will involve the withdrawal of Russian troops from the Arab Republic. According to the author of the idea, this is necessary to protect civilians from aerial bombardment, although Moscow has claimed from the very beginning of the military campaign in the SAR that it is targeting terrorists.
A member of the us Congress, Joe Wilson, has developed a bill that proposes to impose additional sanctions against Russia and the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
The document, which was called "on stopping the killings in Syria," also proposes to instruct the Secretary of state of the United States, together with the Ministers of Finance and defense, to develop a strategy for removing Assad from power, as well as the transition of the state to a "free and democratic" system.
In addition, this strategy will spell out how the United States can contribute to the withdrawal of the Russian military from the Arab Republic, according to the bill, excerpts from the text of which are cited by RT. According to Wilson, such plans "will support the aspirations of the Syrian people."
Wilson, in addition, considers it necessary to identify in the strategy ways to protect civilians from aerial bombardments allegedly carried out by the Syrian government forces and the Russian aerospace forces.
This is not the first time the US has accused the Russian military of alleged attacks on civilians. Moscow received them from the very beginning of the military operation in Syria. For example, back in October 2015, the Washington Post wrote about the Deputy chief of staff of the us air force for intelligence, Lieutenant General Robert P. Otto, who reported that Russia allegedly uses unguided aerial bombs instead of laser-or satellite-guided weapons. According to him, such actions can lead to a large number of civilian casualties.
In the Russian VKS then made a statement that Russian aircraft were conducting strikes on the infrastructure of banned terrorist group "Islamic state" (organization banned in Russia).
"Russian strike aircraft are equipped with the most modern weapons systems, which allows them to work on the infrastructure of the Islamic state. Destroyed command posts, headquarters management terrorist groups, warehouses of weapons, ammunition and fuels and lubricants, communications centers, mini-factories producing improvised explosive devices and equipment of vehicles for the Commission of terrorist acts", - noted in the SCD.
The Russian military operation in Syria has been carried out for five years. On this occasion, Russian defense Minister Sergei Shoigu gave an interview to the newspaper "red star", in which he noted that with the support of Russia, it was possible to defeat the militants of the "Islamic state" and prevent the spread of international terrorism.
"The mission was necessary in Syria, and the decision to launch a military operation was correct, if not the only possible one," Shoigu stated.
In addition to proposals for the removal of Assad and the withdrawal of Russian troops, Wilson also took the initiative to assess the potential effectiveness of establishing a no-fly zone throughout Syria. In particular, we are talking about the province of Idlib. To date, this is the only region of Syria, most of which is controlled by militants of illegal armed groups.
Recently, there have been reports of upcoming provocations. So, this was announced on November 3 in the Russian center for reconciliation of warring parties in the territory of the SAR. According to the information provided, the militants intended to commit provocations aimed at destabilizing the situation in the Idlib de-escalation zone.
"Militants of terrorist organizations plan to carry out shelling in the area of the settlement of Tedil in Idlib province with the use of mortars and multiple rocket launchers," RIA Novosti quoted rear Admiral Alexander Grinkevich, Deputy head of the cpvs, as saying.
After that, as noted, the terrorists planned to post a video of the consequences of the shelling on the Internet in order to accuse the Syrian armed forces of attacking Turkish troops.
