A cyber police will appear in the structure of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. On Friday, Deputy Interior Minister Igor Zubov told about the adoption of the relevant decision by Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev.
"This is not a matter of one day, it will take a lot of time, it will require money, equipment, and changes in the qualifications of employees," the deputy minister said in an interview with the project "Personally for Children".
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in the context of the coronavirus pandemic, the overall crime rate in Russia remained the same, but the number of cybercrimes increased sharply.
"During the pandemic, our overall crime rate is stable, and crime in the cyber environment has increased significantly," said Igor Zubov. - For a number of reasons - this is the impact of digitalization of society, and the fact that people who are isolated have more opportunities on the Internet to draw various knowledge, including criminal plan, and try yourself in this."
At the beginning of this year, it was reported that the investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs created units to combat IT crimes.
Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev announced the creation of the cyber police a year ago. According to him, the department will create special structures to combat cybercrime. The Minister explained that the new units will be formed according to the industry principle within the existing staffing level. In addition, it is planned to significantly increase the staff of the Bureau of Special Technical Measures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, as well as their divisions at the regional level. This is the structure responsible for the use of various technical devices and gadgets by police officers.
