MOSCOW, Nov 26-RIA Novosti. A new universal short-range anti-aircraft missile system capable of hitting targets of any type will be created in Russia, Bekhan Ozdoev, industrial Director of the arms complex of the rostec state Corporation, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
"We want to create a universal short-range anti-aircraft system that will have a combined armament. Such weapons should be able to hit all types of targets, including ground targets, " he said.
According to him, one of the first results of the implementation of this concept was the anti-aircraft missile and gun system "Pantsir-S".
"His popularity and international recognition attest to the fact that we are moving in the right direction. At the same time, it confirmed its combat capabilities in real combat conditions in Syria. Combat use has given us invaluable experience that helps in further development, " the source said.
The Pantsir-S missile defense system is capable of targeting aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles in conditions of natural and artificial interference, hitting air targets at ranges of up to 20 kilometers and at altitudes of up to 15 kilometers.
