Tanker drone
Toyota has patented an Autonomous drone for refueling and recharging a car that suddenly has an empty fuel tank or battery.
It's unclear whether the system will only work when the car is at rest. Patent drawings show the drone in close proximity to the car it is refueling, and this may mean that the vehicle is stationary. But this is just a patent drawing. The description States that the system is theoretically applicable to vehicles running on any standard fuel. It also describes in detail the method by which you can improve the efficiency of driving a car in tandem with a drone: you should make short stops for refueling on the route before the drone is empty and goes to charge itself.

To find victims in need of refueling, the drone has a GPS Navigator and proximity sensor sewn into it to search for a gas tank cap or charging port. The description does not mention whether the driver will have to take a direct part in the operation of the system. You may need to open the fuel tank cover or the charging port, as they are arranged differently on different cars. Unfortunately, nothing is yet known about the time when this technology will be released to the wide market.
