Collective forces of the CSTO countries will continue to be equipped with modern weapons
Moscow. November 17. INTERFAX - the countries of the collective security Treaty Organization (CSTO) intend to conduct joint military exercises, and in the future, peacekeeping operations, Russian security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said.
"We agreed to continue the practice of conducting military exercises, during which new forms and methods of using collective forces will be worked out. We analyzed the prospects for CSTO peacekeeping activities with an emphasis on the possibility of participation of CSTO forces in peacekeeping operations under the auspices of the UN," Patrushev said after a meeting of the Committee of secretaries of the security Councils of the CSTO member States.
According to him, special attention was paid to the issues of information security, military and military-technical cooperation (MTC).
"We stated that the collective forces created today have sufficient potential to solve the tasks assigned to them. At the same time, we discussed plans for further equipping them with modern weapons and military equipment, control and communication systems, " Patrushev said.
He noted that the secretaries of the security councils of the CSTO countries also considered issues of interaction between the military police,military investigation, military Prosecutor's office and military courts in criminal and administrative cases against individuals who are part of the forces and means of the collective security system.
"We expressed the opinion that during the Russian presidency of the organization, we managed to implement the tasks set by the CSTO heads of state for the current year, despite the difficulties associated with the difficult epidemiological situation, as well as the deterioration of the military-political situation in the world and the regions bordering the CSTO area of responsibility," Patrushev said.
