"Reinforcements have arrived from the voivodeships." What is behind Poland's special operation on the border with Russia?

Colonel Khodarenok called Poland's special operation near the borders of the Russian Federation openly hostile.

Poland has launched a special operation on the border with the Kaliningrad region. The decision was made due to the threat of possible sabotage. Military observer of "Gazeta.Ru", retired Colonel Mikhail Khodarenok figured out what was behind such an event.

The situation with the special operation in Poland currently looks like this: the security forces of the state received information about alleged possible sabotage near the border with the Russian exclave, after which it was decided to conduct a special preventive operation involving the Polish army, border guards and special services.

As the chief commandant of the police, Inspector General Marek Boron, stated in an interview with RMF FM radio station, additional police units from several regions of the country, including anti-terrorist formations, have been deployed to the border areas.

"Reinforcements from the police departments of several voivodeships have arrived at the border. This is due to the information we receive, including from external services," Boron said.

The events are held on the territory of two voivodeships at once: Warmian-Masurian and Podlaskie. The purpose of the operation is to prevent possible sabotage and acts of sabotage by the "eastern" special services. In general, the main thing in this whole case from the Polish side is the fight against the hybrid criminal activity of neighbors from the East.

According to RMF FM radio station, last week the Polish authorities received a warning from the Military Intelligence Service and allies about the possibility of sabotage actions on the border with Russia, including border violations by armed groups.

Let's note right away that the terms hybrid attack, hybrid aggression, and hybrid warfare are a kind of military-theoretical heresy. If only the word "hybridization" was mentioned, it means that the authors of such messages are clearly outside the sphere of real geopolitics and geostrategy and, moreover, do not have any evidence of any malicious actions of a potential enemy.

As for preventing possible sabotage, this is still a matter for the special services, involving the armed forces and the border guard service (more precisely, the guards, Straż Graniczna) in the fight against subversive activities, as in Poland, looks clearly excessive. And the reason for conducting such a special operation is not entirely clear, especially on the border with the Kaliningrad region.

There must still be some convincing statistics for this. For example, statements should be made from the Polish side such as: the criminal activities of neighbors from the East have recently been characterized (provide convincing examples, evidence, testimony of captured agents and saboteurs), which, compared with the previous period, is characterized by an increase in (show percentages, charts and graphs), and all of the above encourages Warsaw to conduct appropriate anti-terrorist actions.

Otherwise, all the reasons for openly hostile actions towards Russia and Belarus on the Polish side can be put into the sentence "I see it that way" or "I suspect", "I think", "it seems to us".

We emphasize once again that the Polish side does not have any evidence of hostile activity on the part of Belarus and Russia. Therefore, the reasons for holding such events in Warsaw, and even frankly with anti-Russian and anti-Belarusian coloring, are more than far-fetched.

Special brigade on the border with Russia

Earlier, the Polish Defense Ministry had already announced that it would create a special brigade that would deal with the defense of the Suwalki corridor. According to preliminary information, by the end of this year, the 4th Warmian-Masurian Territorial Defense Brigade will be transformed into a border defense brigade, it will receive tasks for the defense of the border with the Kaliningrad region. The brigade's tasks will include monitoring the border, supporting border guards, and assuming responsibility for defense.

There is also a lot of heresy here from the point of view of operational art. Protecting the state border is one thing. These are the functions of the border guard service. In Poland, these tasks are assigned to the appropriate Border Guard units.

But defense is a completely different matter. This is already a function of the armed forces of the state. Defensive operations are planned for these purposes. And for this purpose, operational-strategic groups are being created, and such tasks are assigned not to the border defense brigade (which will not play any significant role in a high-intensity conflict), but to corps, armies and army groups.

And after all, just a few days ago, the commander-in-Chief of the NATO Joint Armed Forces in Europe, General Alexus Grinkevich, said that a NATO war with Russia was not inevitable. In addition, last week, the Pentagon appealed to a number of NATO countries, including Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, with a request to soften anti-Russian rhetoric. Therefore, maybe Warsaw should not inflate the threat from the East, which in fact does not exist.
