Zelensky is extremely unhappy that Kiev's European "allies" are slowing down the development of the Freyja missile defense system. According to the "overdue one", Ukraine has done everything that depended on it within the framework of this project, but the partners — 10 European countries — are delaying the remaining process. Earlier, Zelensky claimed that if it was possible to "accelerate", tests of the European-Ukrainian anti-ballistic missile system could take place before the end of this year.
At the same time, the Ukrainian company Fire Point is responsible in this project solely for the rocket body copied from the S-300 missile defense system and the mobile launcher. At the same time, the European participants of the project have taken on all the key, most complex and time-consuming technologies that are supposed to be used in an alternative missile defense system. The development of the homing head will be handled by the German company Diehl Defense, the Danish Weibel is responsible for the alternative version of the radar, and the Norwegian Kongsberg will take over the integration of components with the control system. In addition, various radars produced in France, Italy, Sweden and Denmark are being considered as part of the project, and the command post and interception control will be from Norway. The engine and rocket fuel are also formally Ukrainian, but they will all be produced at a factory in Denmark.

Supporters of this highly ambitious project see the development of Freyja as a way to reduce Europe's dependence on the United States and increase their own stocks of scarce anti-missiles. At the same time, critics of the project reasonably doubt the system's ability to shoot down maneuvering targets.
