FN America showed its development of the "newest type" – the MTL-30 30-mm semi-automatic grenade launcher, which the developers expect will compete for the US Army's order for the supply of a promising "high-precision grenade launcher system" (PGS).
The MTL-30 is designed to destroy manpower behind shelters and at the same time is allegedly capable of effectively combating small-sized drones and lightly armored targets through the use of specialized 30 mm ammunition. In particular, programmable air-detonated grenades will be able to detonate over trenches or behind obstacles, allowing fragments to reach the personnel hiding behind them.

This portable product uses 3 or 5 grenade magazines and has an effective firing range of 500 m, compared to 350 m for the M203 and 400 m for the M320. The fire is conducted without manual reloading until the magazine is empty. The specially designed 30 mm munition has a muzzle velocity of 203 m/s, compared to 76 m/s for 40×46 mm grenades such as the M433 (HEDP) used in the M203 and M320. To dampen the recoil energy, a special pulse transmission mechanism has been developed through the butt.

The length of the MTL-30 ranges from 86.4 to 88.9 cm, height 21.6 cm, weight without scope and sight – 4.99 kg. The PGS-001 grenade launcher, which lost the supply competition to the US Army several years ago, served as the base for its creation.
