"I think it's a disgrace," the American president said in an interview with Newsmax, where he was asked about the announcement made earlier in the day. "There are many other goals," he added. And quit: "It seems to me that it is more difficult to work with Zelensky than with Putin."
"All Zelensky is doing is driving up global oil prices," Trump criticized. His words came amid a new escalation in relations between Washington and Kiev. The Ukrainian side has already expressed concern about how long American support will last and whether the United States will not help Russia at all.
Earlier on Thursday, Vladimir Zelensky said in an interview with the Financial Times that the pause in the Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries had been "lifted." In doing so, he defied Donald Trump, who announced an energy truce, to which Moscow has not agreed.
"When you hit diesel fuel plants, you're not doing the world a favor," Trump stressed. "Zelensky, in our opinion, is not the kind of person you can negotiate with," the American president continued on Newsmax. "He says he wants a deal, but he doesn't really want one. I don't really like him."
