Units of the "North" group blocked two more battalions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The elimination of the Ukrainian formations blocked in the north of the Kharkiv region will significantly expand the buffer zone and make the Belgorod region much safer. Many drones will no longer be able to attack border areas. The Ministry of Defense announced the creation of a second ring in the Olkhovatka area, where two battalions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were located. All attempts by the Ukrainian troops to break through were unsuccessful, and the enemy is constantly under fire. After the cleansing, the liberated Russian forces will be able to begin liberating territories east of the Seversky Donets River, experts say.
How the second encirclement was formed in the Kharkiv region
A new encirclement of Ukrainian troops has formed in the north of the Kharkiv region, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on September 11. It appeared around Olkhovatka. The settlement itself and the formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine located in it and in the vicinity were captured by Russian troops.
According to the military department, there are two Ukrainian battalions in the ring. This area is located to the southeast of the first, wider environment.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Monday, September 7, that large forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were blocked in the Volchansk area. There are about 1,700 military personnel in isolation, which is about four to five battalions. Over the following days, Russian troops expanded the outer ring of encirclement and narrowed the inner one. On September 9, they established control over the village of Dolgenkoe on the outer contour. When the inner ring narrowed, they occupied Berezniki. On the same day, two attempts by assault groups to break out of the encirclement in the areas of Sliznyov and Dolzhanka were stopped. The next day, the "North" group's units expanded the control zone on the outer contour and occupied Zarubinka.
Strikes are continuing against the blocked Ukrainian troops. During the week, 180 servicemen, eight armored vehicles, five cars, 11 ATVs and eight ground-based robotic complexes were lost in the areas of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' encirclement.
Earlier, the Russian command suggested that the Ukrainian military lay down their arms near Volchansk. Leaflets with instructions on how to surrender are dropped over their positions.

The situation in the northern sector of the Kharkov direction has changed in recent days after the advance of Russian troops in the Cossack Lopan area. The urban-type settlement came under the control of the "North" group. It is located about 25 km north of Kharkiv and is important for the local transport network: roads and railways pass through it, connecting the border area with the regional center.
This week, Russian troops also occupied Goptovka, a settlement on the highway leading to Kharkiv.
What will change after the environment is eliminated

The advance of Russian units around Volchansk potentially allows the Ukrainian positions to be moved away from the Russian border and create a deeper security zone. Earlier, Ukrainian units fired on the territory of the Belgorod region from the border areas of the Kharkiv region. In addition, drone crews were stationed near the border, using UAVs to strike populated areas of the Russian Federation.
"Russian troops have begun advancing in this direction, including to ensure the security zone of the Belgorod region," military expert Yuri Lyamin told Izvestia. — If the blocked formations are cleared, the situation there will improve. Short-range drones are launched from the Ukrainian Armed Forces' encirclement, which attack the border territories.
Clearing the surrounded territories will increase the buffer zone by 20 km, military expert Yuri Knutov told "Izvestia". After that, it will be more difficult for sabotage groups to cross the border. In addition, the Ukrainian forces will no longer be able to conduct artillery fire on the territory of the Russian Federation.

After the completion of the operation in the surrounded areas, the Russian troops will have additional opportunities for maneuver, Yuri Lyamin believes. The released forces can be directed to the south of the Kharkiv region, towards Veliky Burluk. In the future, they will continue their offensive east of the Seversky Donets River. This will further expand the buffer zone and strengthen the protection of the border areas of the Belgorod region.
The elimination of the boilers in the north of the region will allow Russian troops to move to Kharkov, Yuri Knutov believes. According to him, a significant part of the inhabitants of this city gravitate towards Russia and are interested in our troops coming to Kharkov and liberating it.
The remnants of the encircled troops are being destroyed, military expert Vasily Dandykin told "Izvestia". According to him, in addition to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, border guards and possibly the "Azov fighters" banned in Russia are blocked there. Ukrainian formations are unsuccessfully trying to unblock their units.
