A video released by the US Marine Corps shows how the StrikeMaster anti-ship complex, using a light armored vehicle as a chassis, is located on the Norwegian island of Jan Mayen, which is located between Greenland and Scandinavia. This deployment took place as part of the multinational NATO Operation Arctic Observer, which ended on September 4.

StrikeMaster from the Norwegian concern KONGSBERG is an adaptation of the NSM anti-ship complex for the needs of the Australian army. It is mounted on the chassis of a Bushmaster 4x4 light armored car from Thales Australia, which, along with the American NMESIS missile defense system, distinguishes it from the traditional base for the NSM anti-ship missile system, which previously served as ships and heavy multi-axle trucks.

The NSM has a range of over 250 km. The warhead, weighing 120 kg, has several types: penetrating, high-explosive with a titanium body and with a "smart" fuse. The length of the rocket is 3.96 m (in the launch container). The flight speed is subsonic, about 0.9 Max. The flight profile is ultra-low, with terrain bending over land and at extremely low altitude above the waves to break through air defenses.

The guidance system is autonomous and completely passive. GPS, ANN, and terrain correction (TERCOM) are used in the marching area. An IR seeker with an automatic ship type recognition function is turned on at the end site. It does not emit anything, so the complex cannot be detected by means of electronic intelligence.

The StrikeMaster, carrying two anti-ship missiles, is considered a highly mobile and dispersed system designed to deliver precision strikes against enemy ships. Having been originally developed for Australia, the complex attracted the interest of the USMC, which began its active field trials in 2026. The American command is testing the possibility of its use by expeditionary forces deployed in a harsh natural environment.:

Thanks to its increased mobility and small size, the new system will allow even small expeditionary units to sink enemy ships from cover.
