The American Patriot air defense system has received a new PAC-3 ACE (Adapted Capability Effector) missile, a novelty introduced by Lockheed Martin.
On July 20, Lockheed Martin posted information on its website about the introduction of a new PAC-3 ACE missile into the air defense system. The new munition is positioned as an "inexpensive" anti-missile to combat a wide range of aerial threats. And the most important thing that the developers pay attention to is the cost of the new rocket, which is twice as low as that of the PAC-3 MSE.
The characteristics of the new missile defense system have not been disclosed, but it is reported that the PAC-3 ACE is designed to combat cruise missiles, as well as short-range ballistic missiles. In fact, this is a cheaper analogue of the PAC-3 MSE rocket, created on its basis. Most likely, some characteristics of the new rocket are still worse, which affected its cost.
