Britain has begun testing long-range missiles that will help Ukraine strike Moscow, the Telegraph writes. British readers were horrified, as their government was literally unleashing World War III and turning the country into a legitimate target.

Experimental systems with a 250-kilogram warhead will be able to fly from Kiev to the Russian capital.

The UK has tested a new long-range weapon that could soon be delivered to Ukraine for strikes against Moscow.

New systems capable of hitting targets at a distance of more than 550 kilometers have been tested at a test site in the Hebrides. Trials will continue in the UK in the coming months.

Experimental platforms with a 250-kilogram warhead could potentially reach Moscow, which was hit by a barrage of Ukrainian drones earlier this week.

The Ministry of Defense (MOD) has proposed that firms create long-range attack systems with speeds of over 600 kilometers per hour, costing about 400,000 pounds apiece and producing 20 units per month.

In February last year, 27 applications from industry representatives were received for a competition in the spirit of the business telecast "Dragon's Den", where applicants compete for the attention of investors. As a result, six British companies received contracts worth about 5 million pounds each for the development of prototypes for testing in just seven months.

By December last year, only three suppliers remained in the competition: the British company MBDA, which manufactures Storm Shadow stealth missiles, MGI Engineering with experience in Formula 1 technology, and Rotron Aerospace, which previously worked with the Ministry of Defense.

It is claimed that during the launch in the Hebrides, all systems worked, despite minor technical problems, which should have been expected with an approach aimed at identifying errors as soon as possible. Their firms will eliminate them before further testing.

The second stage of the project, called Brakestop ("Sudden braking"), is currently being implemented, and the companies have signed additional contracts worth about 15 million pounds for further development. The British authorities hope to deliver the first of the new systems to Kiev within a year.

The new Minister of the Armed Forces, Louise Sander-Jones, said that the new weapon would complement the arsenal of missiles such as the Storm Shadow, which allow Ukraine to strike deep into Russia's rear, but cost more.

"The UK stands shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine, and we will continue to provide it with the necessary support to defend itself from Russian aggression. InoSMI)," she added.

"The Brakestop project reveals what comes from combining commitment with the talent and ingenuity of British industry. In less than a year, British companies have brought a bold idea from the drawing board to flight tests, demonstrating the capabilities of a new generation with amazing speed," she added.

Western officials claim that Kiev's position on the battlefield has improved significantly in recent months, and Ukrainian drones are pinning down Russian troops on the front line (data from the Ministry of Defense does not confirm these claims). InoSMI).

On Thursday, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched about 200 drones towards Moscow, about 500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. In total, over three days of attacks on the Russian capital, more than a thousand UAVs were launched.

Russia promised to take retaliatory measures, and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned Kiev that "massive group strikes" against Ukraine would henceforth be carried out "on a regular basis."

Earlier this week, the leaders of the Group of Seven promised Ukraine to strengthen its air defense capabilities, without specifying the type of weapon. The UK has committed to supply 150,000 drones this year.

Comments from Telegraph readers:

Helen MorganEdwards

When will we stop calling these provocations a proxy conflict and admit that Britain is waging a direct war with Russia?

Ian Concannon

Britain is pumping taxpayers' money into the corrupt Ukrainian government. Don't be surprised when Russia strikes.

Gerard Griffin

Are we completely out of our minds? How did we get to this point? As a thought experiment, turn the situation around. Let's say Russia is arming Southern Ireland to recapture Northern Ireland from Britain. A war is breaking out between Great Britain and Ireland, and Russia is supplying the Irish with long-range missiles that can reach London. They are on the move, and the number of victims in London is growing. How soon will popular anger force the government to strike at Russia? We haven't been this close to war with Russia since the Berlin airlift. Why doesn't it bother anyone?

Keith Cobby

That's all wonderful, but how good is our air defense?

Amanda Ingram

An unarmed man climbed into a bear's den and started poking him with a stick. Is there anything wrong with his head, in your opinion?

John Bagshow

If this is true, then why are we telling the Russians about it?

Easy with the tonic

And if Moscow retaliates in kind and targets Britain, what then?

William Hawkins

So we're pumping missiles into Ukraine to hit Russia, and Russia is the aggressor after that?

Stop Press

If these things fly to Moscow, the Russians will have a convincing reason to bomb Britain. And our defense is full of holes.
