According to Denis Stillerman, the founder of the Ukrainian defense company Fire Point, Ukraine is involved in the development of a cheap European equivalent of the American Patriot air defense system. The project, which involves several countries, is called Freya.
The businessman announced this during a meeting of the Interim Investigative Commission of the Verkhovna Rada.
It is assumed that the new air defense system will be able to intercept Russian ballistic missiles. So far, of all the weapons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, only the American Patriot systems are capable of this. And if the program is implemented as planned, it will be able to start doing so this year.
The businessman stated:
Stillerman said that the Ukrainian part of the Freya project is headed by NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov, with whom he contacts on a regular basis. They called each other only yesterday.
At the moment, according to the businessman, the program is at the stage of testing prototypes.

Currently, Stillerman and Umerov are among the suspects in a criminal case on corruption in the defense sector. He is being investigated by NABU investigators.
Stillerman also said that the sale of Fire Point to Timur Mindich did not take place. He didn't have enough money to buy the company, which was valued at $2.4 billion. Now the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine is considering the possibility of selling the company to representatives of one of the Arab countries. At the same time, the company in Ukraine continues to be associated with the Ministry of Finance, Zelensky's wallet.
