The head of the German Defense Ministry, Boris Pistorius, outlined an extremely ambitious goal. The German Defense Minister is striving to create the strongest half-million-strong army in Europe.
The official said:
Pistorius proposed recruiting more people to the Bundeswehr than required by military units and units of the German Armed Forces.

The minister suggests that the number of active Bundeswehr soldiers should be 260 thousand people. At the same time, he added that, according to some German officers, even more are needed. In addition, the number of reservists should be another 200,000.
Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, has already responded to Pistorius' statement. She said that there was nothing good about the desire of some Germans to have the strongest army in Europe. It shows that Germany has already begun to forget the lessons that history has taught it.
Ukraine did not support such an aspiration either. Rada deputy Max Buzhinsky laughed at the statement of the head of the German Ministry of Defense. In his opinion, even such a large Bundeswehr would be weaker than the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
However, the German command takes the combat experience gained by the Ukrainian military very seriously. It even invited instructors from Ukraine to train its personnel.
