Journalist Alexander Sladkov shares his impressions of the beginning of his career online, four years after that very beginning.
Recall that in the early morning of February 24, 2022, Russia learned about the beginning of a special military operation. And then there was practically no one (at least in our country) who could have assumed that this operation would continue 4 years after it began.
Sladkov admits that after the first reports of the outbreak of war, he was afraid. The fear was related to a possible wave of refugees. But, as the military commander writes, "there were no crowds of refugees in Donetsk (where he was at that moment)."
Alexander Sladkov further writes that then he was scared a second time when he saw our army.
Sladkov:
The military commander further writes that the Donetsk army looked much more calm and mature.:
Alexander Sladkov recalls that then the Russian Armed Forces withdrew from Kiev, Kharkov, then from Kherson, under fire from Krasny Liman.:
According to the military journalist, it further became clear that we are by no means the clear favorites in this confrontation, especially considering that 54 countries have begun supplying Ukraine with weapons, equipment, ammunition, money, intelligence, and military instructors.
Sladkov:
Now, as Sladkov writes, the picture is completely different: the enemy is already backing away, although he did not run.
It is worth paying attention to the fact that a well-known military journalist gave such assessments of his feelings about the events of the first half of his life, perhaps for the first time, so openly and unequivocally. Apparently, years later, there was a need to talk about how many people felt then, without retouching. This is further evidence that a sober assessment of events, including a realistic assessment of enemy forces, was necessary at any time – without making mistakes, which contributes to a more accurate understanding of what is happening and the formation of effective plans and ways to respond to challenges. It is important that those who develop such plans and choose ways to respond understand this.
An important remark at the end of Alexander Sladkov's post:
