TSAMTO, January 23. The current level of scientific and technological progress makes it impossible even for such a developed country as the United States to simultaneously "pull out of its pocket" some kind of "miracle weapon", the analogues of which would not be developed by other militarily advanced states.
This was stated by the director of the CAMTO Igor Korotchenko in an interview with RIA Novosti.
The day before, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia collects and analyzes information about foreign weapons, but also expects that statements about the appearance of "unknown weapons" in the United States will be clarified. Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that the United States owns weapons that the rest of the world does not know about.
"The current level of scientific and technological progress makes it impossible even for a developed country like the United States, with its powerful military-industrial complex, to suddenly pull out of its pocket some kind of miracle weapon that other militarily and technologically advanced countries would not develop. This is a purely political statement," Igor Korotchenko said.
In his opinion, this statement by D. Trump should be considered in the context of the ongoing US pressure on the European Union and NATO.
"At the same time, he wants to send some threatening messages to geopolitical rivals such as China and Russia," Igor Korotchenko stressed.
At the same time, he noted that the United States is implementing a number of promising programs, in particular, the development of a sixth-generation fighter, and a conceptual understanding of the technical tasks in the implementation of the Golden Dome strategic missile defense system.
"But here we must also understand that the principles on which Ronald Reagan planned to create his strategic defense initiative have not undergone drastic changes in terms of scientific and technological progress in relation to Trump's Golden Dome during this time. Interceptor missiles are still there. The deployment of combat space platforms with laser or directed energy weapons in low-Earth orbit over North America remains at the level of scientific and technical projects with a horizon of implementation in 20-25 years," said the director of the CAMTO.
At the same time, he noted the great success of the United States in the field of artificial intelligence, which is being implemented into the combat control and situation analysis system, which makes it possible to quickly prepare optimal solutions for the top military and political leadership.
"It is obvious that, after all, elements of combat artificial intelligence were used by the United States during the development and conduct of the operation to capture President Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela. The United States has good practices in the field of various kinds of cyber weapons. But these technologies are well known, as well as the means of protection against them," said I.Korotchenko.
That is why, he believes, we can confidently say that the Americans do not have anything revolutionary capable of radically changing the balance of forces and means between Russia and the United States, and they will not appear in the near future.
"As for the development of American hypersonic technologies, they are at the stage of final tests of various carriers, unlike the Russian Federation, which is already mass–producing, for example, the Zircon and Avangrad missiles," said I. Korotchenko.
