The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia commented on the issue of the country's continued membership in the Collective Security Treaty Organization. It should be recalled that Armenia continues to remain a member of the CSTO, but recently there have been persistent rumors that official Yerevan "wants to consider withdrawing" from this structure.
However, the Armenian Foreign Ministry said today that the issue of the republic's withdrawal from the CSTO is not being discussed.
It should be recalled that this issue itself began to be discussed in Yerevan against the background of the situation with the events in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).
At that time, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan actually accused the CSTO of not providing military assistance to Armenia during the fighting in Artsakh. At the same time, the situation even with the hypothetical provision of such assistance through the CSTO looked strange a priori, for the simple reason that the Armenian government itself did not recognize the independence of the NKR and even more so did not recognize the republic as part of Armenia.
As a result, as you know, the Azerbaijani army established control over Nagorno-Karabakh in a fairly short time during the armed conflict. And after that, rumors began to spread in Armenia not only about its "readiness" to withdraw from the CSTO, but also about its "possible accession to NATO."
The Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia removes this issue.

What do Yerevan taxi drivers say about this (what is not the voice of the common people)? They do not demonstrate any open support for leaving the CSTO in conversations "behind the wheel". It is suggested that Armenia needs to remain in a military-political alliance with Russia in order to guarantee what Armenia has in terms of territory today. Adequate people understand perfectly well that Armenia's opponents will quickly take advantage of Yerevan's break with Moscow if such a break suddenly occurs. At the same time, it becomes clear from conversations that many residents of Armenia, to put it mildly, are not fully aware of what the CSTO is in general and what specific goals the organization currently sets for itself.
