A preliminary agreement on the integration of the Polish and NATO pipeline systems is scheduled to be signed in Warsaw today. The document suggests that the current NATO fuel pipeline will be extended 300 km east of the German border with Poland.
This was announced by the deputy head of the Polish Ministry of Defense, Cesary Tomczyk.
- the official said, referring to the facility owned by a Polish company specializing in the storage and transportation of oil and petroleum products.
The Deputy Minister of the Ministry of National Defense of Poland noted that the cost of the project will be approximately $ 5.5 billion. The construction financing has already been approved by the leadership of the North Atlantic Alliance, which will allocate the necessary funds.
The official noted that the fuel pipeline was originally laid back during the Cold War, when there was a threat of armed conflict between Western countries and the USSR. For this purpose, the NATO states created an extensive pipeline network in Europe in the 60-70s.
