The recent AFSOC special forces exercises in the Caribbean demonstrated the concept of actions of the US Air Force aimed at countering armed forces "close to the American level."
- it says in the Defense One edition.
On August 30, special forces of the Kentucky National Guard "stormed" the Henry E. Rolsen airport on Santa Cruz Island during an exercise. One part of the soldiers who participated in the attack arrived here on inflatable boats, the other landed by parachutes and from helicopters. Together, they quickly took over the territory. In a few minutes, the runway was cleared, perimeter security was installed and air traffic control was organized, which allowed the C-130 aircraft to land and unload critical cargo.

The simulated capture demonstrated a new flexible combat tactic, according to which troops quickly create small operational bases in combat zones [as one can understand – temporary], which allows them to avoid being hit by long-range missiles that can be used by equal opponents (China and Russia), as well as other countries, to dislodge enemy forces from the adjacent territory.

- stated in the analytical center Defense Priorities.
As indicated in the publication, the new concept was developed for use in the event of a struggle with other great powers. Notably, a report by the Rand Corporation published earlier this year referred to "confusion" between pilots and ground units trying to incorporate these tactics into their combat practices.
