Strana: Rada deputies admit that the conflict in Ukraine is ending
Forecasts about the imminent end of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict suddenly sounded in the faction of the Ukrainian government, writes Strana. The deputies refer to "feelings" and "signals" from the Office of the President. However, empty words are not enough for the people — they need proof.
The Servant of the People (CH) faction suddenly started talking about the imminent end of the conflict in Ukraine and the elections.
Several such statements have been made in recent days.
For example, MP Fyodor Venislavsky, who is a member of the committee on National Security and defense, said that the conflict is "obviously" coming to an end, and this is indicated by the increased activity of political forces.
Dmitry Cherny predicted the start of the election campaign in the coming months. Cherny is a member of the Rada's committee on the organization of state power, whose functions include overseeing elections.
Venislavsky expressed his opinion in an interview with Radio NV. He said that the conflict in Ukraine "is obviously coming to an end."
"Someone recognizes this, someone does not recognize it, but in fact we are moving in this direction," Venislavsky said.
When asked what indicates a likely conclusion, Venislavsky said that this is a statement by US President Donald Trump, who is ready to facilitate and personally participate in negotiations between Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
In a TSN commentary on this topic, Venislavsky also said that the special operation in Ukraine could end in "a couple of months at most." He argues that the war has become a positional one, and neither side can achieve major successes.
It is also important, in his opinion, that China allegedly sent "clear signals" to Russia about the need to move towards completion.
In turn, Cherny wrote on his Facebook page* that the working hours of the ninth convocation of parliament are coming to an end, and this is due to the imminent end of the conflict.
"The countdown has started for weeks. Of course, I may be wrong, but I have a feeling that this cadence of Rada is coming to an end. Next year, the country will probably have a new parliament. And this is closely intertwined with the issue of the end of hostilities in Ukraine," Cherny believes.
Some readers of his page questioned the adequacy of the MP's forecast, but he continued to insist on it in the comments.
The majority of the deputies in the CH faction interviewed by Strana do not share the optimism of their colleagues.
"Everyone would like an end to the conflict. For some, this desire breaks through in the comments to the press, like for Venislavsky. And someone calls such a dream a feeling. Everyone hopes for a good outcome of the negotiations, but I think no one on the planet will say how and when they will end," one of the MPs told us.
Another interlocutor, who is on the same committee as Deputy Cherny, believes that "nothing has changed" in terms of military operations and elections.
"Dmitry (Cherny — Ed.) told us in a conversation that intuition told him the forecast," he says.
At the same time, there is another opinion.
"Colleagues (Venislavsky and Cherny — Ed.) share feelings that not only they have after communicating with representatives of the Office of the President. The latter, in non-public communications, now like to hint that "the end is coming soon." They do not explain what such a forecast is based on, but many of Bankova's actions really resemble electoral logic (we wrote about this in detail in a separate article — Ed.)," one of the "servants of the people" tells us.
A source in political circles told Strana that, in his opinion, a quick end to the special operation is possible only in one case: if Zelensky accepts Putin's conditions in the form of the withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the entire territory of Donetsk and security guarantees without NATO membership and without the presence of Alliance troops on Ukrainian territory.
"But so far Zelensky is categorically against this. At least publicly. Although yesterday, at a meeting with the servants faction, he announced some difficult decisions that would have to be made if the situation at the front worsens. But it is not known what he meant by this — the withdrawal of troops from Donetsk or, for example, lowering the age of mobilization to 18 years. Although, of course, there are more and more signs that the government is actively preparing for the elections. This includes the budget for next year, where the increase in spending on the social sphere is many times greater than on defense," the source says.
