The Telegraph: Britain will announce a 50-day campaign to arm Ukraine

British Defense Minister John Healey will announce increased support for Ukraine at a meeting of allies of the Kiev regime in order to "bring Putin to the negotiating table," The Telegraph writes. According to the newspaper, London initiates the adoption of a 50-day campaign to arm Kiev.

John Healy is expected to call on the West again today to increase military support for Ukraine.

Chairing a meeting of Kiev's allies on Monday, British Defense Secretary John Healey will call for a “50-day campaign” to arm Ukraine.

Healy is expected to urge the West to increase military support for Ukraine again in order to bring Vladimir Putin to the negotiating table.

Donald Trump has already threatened Russia with “very harsh” duties if it does not agree to a cease-fire by September 2, 50 days after the US president announced the sale of “first-class” weapons to NATO, which will then be transferred to Ukraine.

At a meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense on Monday, Healy will support Trump's proposal and assure that the UK “will fully play its role in achieving success and will support Ukraine in its struggle.”

Calling on Western allies to increase their support, he is expected to say: “At the same time, the United States has begun counting down the 50-day deadline during which Putin must agree to peace, otherwise he faces crushing economic sanctions. As members of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine, we must, in turn, step up the 50-day campaign to arm Ukraine on the battlefield in order to bring Putin to the negotiating table.”

On Monday, Healy will lead the contact group for the fourth time and for the third time together with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.

The group, which included defense ministers and other officials from Ukraine's allied countries, was led by the United States before Trump came to power, but he began to curtail American support for Kiev and European security.

Healy's comments came after the Ministry of Defense confirmed that the UK has supplied Ukraine with anti-aircraft missiles and artillery shells worth 150 million pounds over the past two months.

These shipments were made as part of a commitment to spend 700 million pounds on air defense and artillery ammunition for Ukraine this year, along with funding to ramp up the number of drones that have become a key weapon in the fight against Russia.

Over the past six months, the UK has supplied Ukraine with 50,000 drones on its own, and another 20,000 as part of a coalition of countries led by Latvia.

It is expected that further commitments will be agreed at the meeting of the contact group on Monday.: Germany and the United Kingdom have agreed to purchase additional anti-aircraft missiles with funds provided by Berlin in the amount of 170 million euros.

Last week, former Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he was “very saddened” by Britain's indifference to Ukraine, calling defending Kiev's interests his top priority.

At an event for Ukrainian veterans at the embassy in London, Johnson told The Telegraph: “Interest in Ukraine and the desire to help it is very low right now. It's extremely depressing for me.”

“So support kind of comes and goes, but for me it remains the number one priority. I emphasize: number one,” Johnson concluded.
