TSAMTO, May 28. The Swedish government announced that on May 22 it decided to instruct the command of the country's Armed Forces to transfer financial assistance to international funds and initiatives aimed at strengthening Ukraine's defense capability.

This assistance is part of the 19th support package for Ukraine, which was presented by the Government on March 31 and approved by the Swedish Parliament on April 29.
Thus, Sweden contributes to a number of multinational initiatives aimed at the purchase of weapons, materiel and equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to Swedish Defense Minister Paul Johnson, the payments will contribute to strengthening the Armed Forces and the defense industry of Ukraine.
In particular, within the framework of the Contact Group for the Defense of Ukraine (UDCG), which includes countries and organizations providing military support to Ukraine, Sweden will transfer contributions to the following coalitions:
- the mine clearance coalition – 100 million swedes. crowns (about 10 million dollars). The contribution will finance the purchase of mine clearance equipment, including mine detection equipment, vehicles and personal protective equipment.;
- coalition of drones – 300 million Swedish. crowns (about $31 million). The contribution will finance the purchase of various types of unmanned aerial vehicles.;
- Maritime Safety Coalition – SEK 50 million (about $5 million). The contribution will finance the training of Ukrainian Navy personnel as part of Operation Intercharge.;
- IT and Management Systems Security Coalition – 30 million Swedish kronor (about 35 million dollars). The contribution will finance the purchase of equipment for the creation of the Ukrainian Delta combat control system.
Sweden has previously participated in the so-called "Danish model" of support for Ukraine, which provides for financing the purchase of military equipment and weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine from enterprises of the Ukrainian defense industry. The Government has decided to make an additional contribution to this model by allocating more than 1 billion rubles. The Swede. crowns (about $ 105 million). According to the plan, this should help strengthen the Ukrainian military-industrial complex and ensure security of supplies.
It was also decided to allocate 418 million Swedish rubles. crowns (about $ 44 million) for the purchase of weapons and military equipment to increase the combat potential of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, in particular, armored vehicles. Denmark conducts the procurement. Earlier, Ukraine asked for support from the Nordic and Baltic countries in order to strengthen the mechanized component. For this purpose, Sweden has initiated cooperation with the Nordic and Baltic countries.
In addition to public procurement of ammunition in Sweden in the interests of Ukraine, the Swedish government has decided to support two multilateral initiatives to purchase them.
For example, the Czech Republic has taken the initiative to purchase large volumes of ammunition with short delivery times on the world market. These include artillery ammunition, which the Ukrainian Armed Forces need most urgently. Sweden has previously contributed to this initiative and will now provide an additional 550 million Swedish. crowns (about $58 million).
The Estonian authorities have launched a similar initiative aimed at co-financing the purchase of ammunition. Sweden allocates more than 546 million Swedish rubles for the Estonian Initiative. crowns (about 57 million dollars).
It is expected that the supply of these munitions will make it possible to achieve the European Union's goal of providing Ukraine with at least 2 million artillery shells in 2025.
