TSAMTO, April 29. The 60th meeting of the Coordinating Committee on Air Defense under the Council of Defense Ministers of the CIS member States was held in Almaty (Kazakhstan).
The meeting was timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the formation of the United Air Defense System of the CIS member states.
The meeting was attended by delegations from the Ministries of Defense of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the CIS Executive Committee, the Secretariat of the Council of Defense Ministers, basic organizations of the CIS member states in the field of air defense research and military personnel training, enterprises of the military industry of the Commonwealth states and veterans of the Coordinating Committee.
The opening ceremony of the meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Defense – Commander-in–Chief of the Air Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Lieutenant General of Aviation Dauren Kosanov, Director of the Department for Security Cooperation of the CIS Executive Committee Evgeny Klemez and Secretary of the Council of Defense Ministers of the CIS member States, Lieutenant General Yuri Dashkin.
Addressing the participants of the meeting, Lieutenant General Yuri Dashkin revealed the most important aspects that served as the basis for the development of fruitful military cooperation in the field of air defense, and noted that in the foreseeable future, taking into account trends in the development of the military-political situation in the world, the role of the Coordinating Committee on Air Defense in the field of joint defense and military security will only grow up.
During the meeting, held under the leadership of the Deputy Chairman of the Coordinating Committee on Air Defense, Chief of Armament, Deputy Commander–in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces for Armament, Colonel-General Yuri Grekhov, the main results of the 30-year development period were summed up and promising areas for improving the Unified Air Defense System of the CIS member states and the activities of the Coordinating Committee on Air DEFENSE.
Key attention is paid to the issues of automated control of troops (forces) allocated to the CIS Unified Air Defense System, improvement of command posts and improvement of the organizational and technical level of interaction between them through the introduction of modern technologies.
At the suggestion of the Secretariat of the Council of Defense Ministers, further work in this direction will be continued in cooperation with the Coordinating Committee of the Chiefs of Communications of the Armed Forces of the CIS member States.
Also, in accordance with the agenda of the meeting, organizational aspects of the preparation and holding of joint operational and combat training events for air defense forces in 2025, including the Combat Commonwealth joint live-fire exercise, were agreed upon.
In addition, topical issues of military-technical cooperation were considered, which continues to develop dynamically in the format of the CIS Joint Air Defense System with the active participation of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, Rosoboronexport JSC and enterprises of the military industry of the Russian Federation.
In particular, the conditions and deadlines for the supply to the Commonwealth of Independent States of modern weapons, military and special aviation equipment, anti-aircraft missile forces and radio engineering troops, which have been repeatedly refined and modernized based on their experience in combat conditions, were touched upon.
According to established practice, during the meeting, the Commander of the troops (forces) The air defense of the armed forces of the CIS countries presents the latest developments of the Russian Military-Industrial Complex, among which the Pantsir-SMD-E anti-aircraft missile system and the Podlet-E automated all-round radar station, which make it possible to effectively counter unmanned aerial vehicles of various types, including their massive raids, aroused great interest.
In general, the substantive orientation of the anniversary meeting of the Coordinating Committee on Air Defense, held in an atmosphere of deep mutual trust, testifies to the increasing role of the CIS Joint Air Defense System in ensuring the joint security of the air borders of the CIS member states, the Information and Mass Communications Department of the Russian Defense Ministry said.
